Black Men Rising

A movement is taking shape.

Across neighborhoods, cities, and regions, Black men are beginning to come together in broader coalitions and alliances, coalescing and pulling together resources, wisdom, and social capital that have too often been fragmented or isolated.

Despite the diversity of our backgrounds, beliefs, and lived experiences, a shared truth sits at the center of this moment.

Black men are standing up and speaking up.

Like most Black people in this country, Black men have been deeply impacted by historical, structural, and intergenerational trauma. Too often, that pain has been masked, suppressed, or carried in silence, with few safe or culturally grounded outlets for healing.

Yet, despite that burden, Black men have continued to show up.

We have played our roles as fathers, uncles, grandfathers, mentors, and protectors, not only to our biological children, but to children throughout our communities.

We have served as coaches, educators, counselors, therapists, teachers, healers, mentors and guides, often without recognition, resources, or support.

Now, a shift is happening.

More Black men are gravitating toward support systems that address trauma, healing, and spiritual restoration.

These spaces may not always look traditional or institutional. Black men are not monolithic. We are relational. We are drawn to social groups that feel familiar, culturally affirming, and rooted in trust.

This moment calls for connection.

Now is the time to intentionally link our social networks, align our efforts, and strengthen our collective impact.

By doing so, we can more effectively address the social conditions that continue to shape, and often harm, our families and communities.

Black Men Rising is about healing, responsibility, and collective power. It is about transforming pain into purpose, isolation into solidarity, and survival into sustained ongoing social cohesion.

Something Powerful Is Happening

Across our communities, Black men are coming together, breaking silence, confronting trauma, and reclaiming our voices.

For generations, we have carried pain while still carrying responsibility for our families and neighborhoods.

Now, more Black men are choosing healing, connection, and collective responsibility.

We are finding support systems rooted in trust, culture, and shared experience, and we a

re beginning to link our networks instead of working in isolation.

This is not about being the same.

It’s about standing together.

This is a call for Black men to:

• Step out of isolation

• Commit to healing and growth

• Connect our social networks

• Strengthen our collective impact

• Address the conditions shaping our communities

This moment is ours.

To stand up.

To speak up.

To heal together.
