COMMUNITY CONVERSATION POWER SERIES!

Community Conversations
March Community Conversation

Black voices united to address systemic structural barriers that marginalize the Black community.

Key issues discussed included

  • Housing

  • Education

  • Economic development

  • Social service safety nets

  • Jobs

  • Small businesses

  • MWBE (Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprise) contracts.

The goal of the Community Conversation was to organize and mobilize political power into a coordinated, people-driven movement—one that educates, empowers, and secures benefits reinvested into the Black community.

We also explored the political infrastructure and apparatus and the role we can play in holding elected officials accountable. Advocacy for our agenda must focus on investing life-sustaining resources back into the community.

Additionally, we examined the community’s political infrastructure, including ward chairpersons and committee representatives, and their connection to the Democratic Party in representing our interests.

We must move beyond rhetoric and toward real political power to create lasting change.

Upcoming Event: Candidate Chat

Join us for an essential community event—Candidate Chat- where legislative leaders, candidates, and constituents will engage in meaningful discussions on the Black community's pressing issues.

What to Expect:

  • Mobilizing services and programs to protect and uplift our community.

  • Examining the impact of the current administration on the Black community.

  • Strengthening relationships between legislative partners and community members to drive progressive, visible change.

The event will feature a panel discussion, during which candidates will respond to pre-submitted questions. This will be followed by breakout sessions for smaller, interactive listening sessions with candidates. This dynamic format ensures a meaningful exchange of ideas that will shape the future of our community.
